On behalf of the CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau Chapter I’d like to thank everyone who attended our successful conference on February 29th titled Take the Leap…from Good to Great.

After a full day of motivating speakers, networking and sharing, I think most of us felt like we were ready to ‘take the leap’ to become an even better and more strategic public relations practitioner.

Here are just a few things we can all think about as we endeavour to be excellent PR practitioners: 

1. In a changing environment, where social media is omnipresent, face to face dialogue is as important as ever.
2. Traditional media, particularly in the world of consumer products, remains a valuable part of the media mix.
3. If you’re mindful of, and nuture, your relationships and your reputation, positive results will come.
4. Genuine respect of others can go a long way towards building positive internal communications.
5. To get to the management table, you have to ‘be the table’ and keep your mother close! (You may need to read Jim Lukaszewski’s latest book to fully appreciate this one!)
6. Crisis can be an opportunity.
