What a great season opener!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Season Opener at Metropolitain Restaurant yesterday and thank you to Marketwire for their sponsorship. What great turnout! I noticed a great mix of new and veteran PR folks and many students very keen to get involved. I’m glad you could join us. You helped us kick off a great season of professional development and networking opportunities. If you didn’t pick up a copy of our PD program, visit our site for more details and book early!

Don’t forget to submit your entry for our NEW PuRe Elements Awards being handed out November 13th at the ARC Hotel in Ottawa. The deadline has been extended to September 30th… so start writing!

One of our objectives this year is to update our newsletter and offer you more timely and relevant information. We will be sending out a quick survey to many of you shortly, asking for your feedback on the kind of e-newsletter you’d like to receive. So please take a few minutes to complete it.

And finally, CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau would like to officially congratulate Stephen Heckbert, APR, past president and current treasurer of our Chapter, on his new position as Professor and Coordinator of the Algonquin College public relations program.  Stephen is enjoying his new life as a professor, and it appears the students are in for a great year! The Algonquin PR program has undergone a few changes this year, as program founder and long-time professor Claudine Wilson, APR, retired from her full-time position in the spring and is now teaching part-time with the program. Former coordinator and professor Peter Larock is now Chair of Media Studies at the College. Stephen is joined by fellow professor Andrea Petruzella, who is joining Algonquin from several years as a consultant in London, England.

Hope to see you soon.

Danielle Côté, President, CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau
