Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation is seeking a Public Relations practitioner or PR Student to join the planning committee for The 11th Annual “For the Kids” Charity Auction.

The 11th Annual “For the Kids” Charity Auction, will be on Monday May 5, 2008 at the Ottawa Congress Centre. This Auction welcomes about 700 guests and the beneficiaries are: The Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, which provides specialized physical rehabilitation, developmental and behavioural support for 3000 children and youth in Eastern Ontario. The Ottawa Rotary Home offers short-term respite care to families of children with physical disabilities. Autism Ontario – Ottawa improves the quality of life for children and families living with autism spectrum disorders.

This public relations (PR) volunteer would use all forms of media and communication to bring to public attention the “For The Kids” Auction of May 5, 2008.  The person would need to be available from January 1, 2008 to May 5, 2008 inclusive.

The OCTC Foundation has as Honorary Chair Mr. J.J. Clarke of CTV. You would work with Mr. Clarke whenever possible to publicize the Auction.

Activities would include:

• Meeting with the staff of the OCTC Foundation and the Auction Committee to become aware of the details of this event
• Contacting the media: local newspapers, magazines, radio and television; making them aware of the “For The Kids” Auction
• Writing and distributing stories about the Auction and other materials to the media
• Implement effective advertising with the Ottawa Citizen
• Obtaining radio and TV interviews to publicize the event  
• Arrange for radio and TV spots
