Salary: $86,125 to $114,825

The Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) has an opening for the full-time position of Manager, Communications and Public Affairs, reporting to the Director, Communications and Public Affairs.
CDIC is a federal Crown corporation that provides insurance against the loss of deposits with member institutions in the event of their failure. Provided the deposits are eligible, CDIC deposit insurance is automatic up to the limit allowed — $100,000 per person at each member institution. CDIC works to minimize its exposure to loss and contributes to the stability of the Canadian financial system for the benefit of depositors. It is funded by the member institutions who pay premiums based on the amount of insured deposits they hold and does not receive federal tax dollars.
The position requires:
- A degree from a recognized institution or equivalent experience in communications, journalism or a related discipline and more than 7 years of experience in a communications role;
- The ability to develop a thorough understanding of CDIC’s mandate, policies and priorities;
- A broad knowledge of communications theories and practices;
- A strong knowledge of print production, online communications and media relations;
- Experience in developing and managing the implementation of integrated, strategic communications plans and initiatives for both internal and external audiences;
- Familiarity with crisis communications, issues management and supervising communications initiatives directed at national target audiences;
- A strong project manager with excellent time management skills and experience in managing a variety of suppliers;
- The ability to work independently while being a core contributing member of CDIC’s communications team;
- Experience in managing and developing staff in a team environment;
- Exposure to communications with government departments;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- A skilled writer, editor and proof-reader in both official languages.
Experience in the financial services industry would be desirable.
