Director, Corporate Communications, Vancouver Airport Authority

Seldom does a career opportunity like this come along.  A newly established position, the Director, Corporate Communications role requires a special leader who is strategic, tactical and creative with a unique blend of professional skills, excellent relationship building qualities and outstanding work ethic.

Reporting to the Vice President, Community & Environmental Affairs, you will lead a small team in planning, developing and delivering corporate communications strategies and initiatives for YVR.  Specifically, you will create and implement strategies for handling issues management, media relations, print and online publications, community relations and events management as the organization continues its growth.  Your ultimate goal will be to build and enhance the already well established profile and reputation of YVR with a wide variety of community and business stakeholders, local and international media and government entities.

This all encompassing corporate communications role for one of Canada’s most recognized organizations and one of BC’s leading economic generators requires you to have a proven track record of success.  You are recognized by your peers and contemporaries as a strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on approach to managing people and resources.  Additionally, you are confident in providing counsel to management while at the same time rolling up your sleeves to get things done.

As the ideal candidate you bring 7 to 10 years of experience in a proactive corporate communications leadership role where deadlines have been a way of life and a reputation of delivery has been built.  You also bring proven success in dealing with a range of stakeholders and have experience with local communities and special interest groups.  YVR is focused on customer service – as such, you have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with media and a variety of business partners.  Experience managing long term corporate communications planning processes which involve various component pieces will also be key to your success.  Needless to say, you are a consummate professional with a history of consultative and interpersonal competencies.

If you are ready to take on this inaugural role and build on the success of the past while creating a strategic approach for the future; and committed to being part of a dynamic and progressive business operation, please send your resume and covering letter, in confidence, to George Madden or Esther McGregor at:
