Description
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Manager, External Communications is responsible for social marketing, branding (i.e. signage) media relations, corporate communications and publications as they relate specifically to external communications, stakeholder and parliamentary relations and CATSA’s web presence.
Key Responsibility Areas
Leadership
* Manage and coach team members towards the achievement of corporate and operational objectives
Partnership and Stakeholder relations
* Liaises with government offices and stakeholders
* Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external
* Promotes consensus through tactful handling of differences
Regulations, Policies, Procedures, Programs (RPPP)
* Manage all external communications including social marketing and media Relations
* Manage all corporate communications and external publications
* Asses risk daily as it pertains to media; identify proactive opportunities and oversee media monitoring service
* Manage the development and maintenance of CATSA internal and external web site
Continuous Improvement
* Identifies and implements ways to make job tasks or processes more effective and efficient
* Conducting research on best practices related to external communications
Position Success Indicators
* Graduation from a recognized university with specialization in Communications or other speciality relevant to the duties of the position. Note special consideration will be given to those with a specialty in social marketing
* Experience in media relations and marketing
* Previous managerial experience
* Experience developing collaborative relationships with, and providing strategic advice to an internal/external stakeholder community
* Experience developing, presenting communication and marketing plans and executive management briefings
* Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research practices and theories
* Knowledge of Canadian Air Transportation Security Authority (CATSA) mandate and mission

Security Clearance:
The position requires the minimum of a Secret level clearance. The clearance process will be initiated for the successful candidate.
