Your Challenge

Reporting to the Chief of Marketing and Communications, the Manager of Communications and Public Relations is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing integrated communications program for the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. The Manager develops a wide range of communications products, services and activities in four specific areas: external communications, media relations, community relations and internal communications. The incumbent will also undertake other marketing and communications initiatives to bring efficiency and consistency to the program (these may include website and branding projects).

Requirements

As the ideal candidate you have:

  • a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or relevant combination of education and experience
  • extensive media relations experience preferably in a visual arts, cultural, or tourism organization
  • expert knowledge of the local and national media relations field
  • excellent writing skills, a high degree of initiative, creativity, judgment, flexibility and independent decision-making
  • a demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies and budgets that deliver quantifiable results
  • excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • proven leadership abilities, and an ability to work well under pressure.

  • The knowledge of both English and French is essential (CCC/CCC).
