Connect With Ottawa’s Public Relations Professionals

The Canadian Public Relations Society, with more than 1600 members, is Canada’s forum for public relations professionals whose counsel shapes the events of the day. CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau is a very active chapter with close to 100 members from the Ottawa/Gatineau region.

CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau members are primarily middle and senior management communications practitioners and decision-makers from the private and public sectors. In addition, CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau places a priority on attracting and nurturing communications and public relations students who will become the workforce of the future.

Our professional development program attracts a range of public relations professionals and student and addresses a variety of topics through the following series:

Hot Topics reflect newsworthy issues in our city and are sometimes planned and held on short notice, while the issues are in the public eye.

Senior Communicators Forums are developed specifically for PR practitioners with 10 years of experience or more and delve into more complex issues. The setting for these sessions is more intimate, and leave ample time for discussion, and questions and answers.

PR Personalities Series involve PR practitioners telling their stories. We invite high profile and well-respected PR professionals from government, corporate and consulting sectors to relay interesting information about the opportunities and challenges inherent in their work.

PR Primer Series are presented as “how-to” sessions aimed at the general membership.

Student Sessions are organized with students from Algonquin, Cité Collégiale, Carleton University or University of Ottawa to develop special sessions for student members.
